All Eyes on AI and Starlink This ICT Day!

·

ICT Day is headed to Santo this year, and it’s shaping up to be a real game-changer—not because it’s new, but because the digital world around us has shifted dramatically. After years of unreliable connectivity and natural disasters disrupting networks, Starlink has finally landed with legal approval, bringing high-speed satellite internet to the islands.

AI is no longer just tech talk—it’s now writing reports, cranking out news stories, even making music and videos that are going viral faster than you can say “upload.” From boardrooms to bedrooms, AI is sneaking into every corner of daily life like a silent ninja.

Meanwhile, the internet scene has had its own rollercoaster ride. After months of tug-of-war between the government and Starlink over fees and red tape, the satellite giant has finally landed with both feet in Vanuatu. Cyclone Pam, the Kevin-Judy tag team, and that nasty 7.3 quake last December knocked out so much of the old network that traditional ISPs had to throw in the towel. Now, Starlink is the new kid on the block—officially licensed and selling like hotcakes through local dealers like Pacific Networks and CW (Computer World).

With these powerful technologies finally taking root, this year’s ICT Day isn’t just another event—it marks the start of a whole new chapter.
