VANKLIA is the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu’s (RBV) automated National Payment System, launched in 2023. It handles domestic payments across the country, including salaries, supplier transfers, and other ACH transactions. With features like real-time gross settlement (RTGS) and an Automated Clearing House (ACH), VANKLIA ensures fast, secure, and efficient processing of both high-value and bulk low-value payments.
Today, however, the system experienced a technical issue, impacting all banks in Vanuatu.
What this means for you:
- Payments scheduled for 18 August 2025 may be delayed until the system is restored and reconciliations are completed.
- Banks will recreate necessary transactions after the issue is fixed, so you don’t need to resubmit payments unless contacted.
- Critical payments like payroll will be prioritized once clearing resumes.
What you can do:
- Allow extra time for domestic payments to be received.
- Avoid sending duplicate payments to the same beneficiary.
- Contact your bank for urgent or time-sensitive payments.
BRED Bank Vanuatu confirms that the RBV has initiated corrective actions and is closely monitoring the situation. They apologize for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience.
