The Government of Vanuatu has officially launched a Secure Government Public Cloud Pilot Program, marking a major milestone in the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
The initiative is designed to modernise public-sector operations and improve the delivery of government services to citizens across the country, including those in remote and rural areas. By moving to a secure public cloud, the government aims to reduce costs, strengthen cyber-security, and ensure that all national data remains under local control while encouraging innovation and economic growth.
The project is supported by funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and delivered in partnership with CyberCX, a leading Indo-Pacific cyber-security and cloud services provider. CyberCX will work closely with Vanuatu’s Department of Communications and Digital Transformation (DCDT) to build a cloud platform tailored to the nation’s needs.
DCDT Director John Jack said the program represents a bold step forward:
“This is a big step forward for the Government of Vanuatu. It shows our commitment to empowering the people of Vanuatu through economic growth, social equity, and innovation, while ensuring we maintain control over our data. We are grateful for Australia’s support and the expertise of CyberCX in making this happen.”
Officials say the pilot program will pave the way for secure, resilient digital services that will help government agencies operate more efficiently and better serve the public.
