Photos have started to circulate online showing what looks like the groundbreaking of a brand-new township project just behind Bellevue heading toward the airport.
From the images, the site appears to be part of an ambitious plan by Future Fund Vanuatu, featuring zones for housing, sports, schools, government offices, and commercial areas — a modern township designed to expand Port Vila beyond its current limits.
Unlike government-led developments, this one looks entirely driven by the private sector. Future Fund is a local investment and project management organisation, with a senior team that includes Managing Director John Tonner, Director Daniel Agius, and experts such as Neil Linwood, Scott Rigby, Leanne Hodda, Ayden Charles, Anthony Tonner and Sophia Fogarty — all focused on delivering projects that strengthen Vanuatu’s economy and environment.
The area itself is largely undeveloped — mostly plantations and cattle-grazing leases — making it a prime location for Port Vila’s next stage of urban growth. If realised, this could become a new private-sector-driven hub for housing, education, and government services, reshaping how Vanuatu’s capital expands in the coming decade.
